MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- The Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course has been closed to the public for months, but on Tuesday, the golf course near Kingston was back in business.

The Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course used to be owned by the State of Oklahoma but ended up being closed after the land was handed over to Pointe Vista Developers. Tuesday was its grand re-opening.

Developers, executives, and of course, golfers, were on hand for Tuesday morning's ceremonial ribbon cutting. People we spoke with around the community praised the move as a positive step towards rejuvenating the area.

One of the major complaints of the privatization of that land some people have is that tourists have been run off because too many attractions have been closed. On Tuesday, organizers were looking ahead.

"This milestone is representing a changing point in Lake Texoma. This has the possibility of being a $750 million to $1 billion development," says Scott Fischer with Pointe Vista Development.

Richard Midkiff at the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce says, "This just starts what maybe is going to happen to the future here with Pointe Vista and other things in the area, and to get the golf course running again is good for the area."

As far as what's next in the point vista saga, officials say that's up to the developers, but officials with Pointe Vista said Tuesday they want to open their new resort hotel around April 2010.
