Wishing Well Makes Texoma Dreams Come True

9-19-05 - Just pronouncing x-linked retinoschisis is hard enough for 9-year-old Dalton Testerman, not to mention the difficulty he has dealing with the effects of this degenerative disease.

Dalton knows that there is a very good chance he will lose most or all of his eye sight over the next few years. His mother, Margaret Parrish, recently contacted the Wishing Well Foundation to see if there was some way to help make Dalton?s situation more bearable.

Dalton, along with his mother and his younger brother Dylan, left for Florida on July 12th to spend time with friends they had never met. Those brand new friends (Mickey, Donald and Goofy to name a few) welcomed Dalton and his family with open arms. For the next several days, thanks to the Wishing Well, Dalton had the time of his young life at Disney World in Orlando.

The Wishing Well works with Give Kids the World, a non-profit organization in Kissimmee, Florida which helps to fulfill wishes of children who choose a trip to the Central Florida attractions. The local Wishing Well program considers children ages 3 through 18 living in the Texoma area of Southern Oklahoma and North Texas who suffer from life-threatening or catastrophic illnesses.

The non-profit organization depends solely on contributions from individuals and organizations in the Texoma area and operates under the auspices of the Wilson N. Jones Center Foundation. A committee of area volunteers oversees each wish from beginning to end, creating a memorable trip for each child and their family.

If you know of a child living in the Texoma area between the ages of 3 and 18 who faces a life threatening or catastrophic illness or would like additional information on The Wishing Well, please call 903-868-WISH (9474).
