OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Strong storms rolled across Oklahoma with
at least one tornado reported and hail, heavy rains and flooding in parts of the state.
At least one traffic death is being attributed to the rain and road closings are reported because of flooded highways are reported around the state.
National Weather Service forecaster Daryl Wiliams in Norman says there are reports of a tornado in Choctaw County in far southeastern Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Muldrow in eastern Oklahoma was
hit by heavy hail and has widespread power outages and Michelann
Ooten with the state Department of Emergency Management says there
are several injuries.
Oklahoma Gas & Electric reports nearly just over 8,500 power outages statewide with outages ranging from southern to eastern Oklahoma. More than 1,200 are in Muldrow.
Public Service Company says about 2,000 of its customers in McAlester, Stigler and Lequire are without power.
The highway patrol says Pamela Bobelu of Apache was killed when
her car hydroplaned on U.S. Highway 62 in Caddo County and crashed
into a pole and a tree.
Several roads leading into northwest Oklahoma City are closed this morning because of flooding. Also shut down are the Creek Turnpike in Wagoner County and a portion of State Highway 20 in Skiatook.
