7-29-05 - AUSTIN (AP) The Texas Senate wants to start fresh on a school finance measure. A new bill is expected to be filed today and hearings are planned for next week.
Senate members hope to break the impasse on school finance that's thwarted several regular and special legislative sessions over the last two years.
Senator Florence Shapiro of Plano says they'll begin what she calls a "new process."
Shapiro chairs the Senate Education Committee.
Senators yesterday met behind closed doors for more than three hours to decide whether to press on and take a vote on their own school finance bill.
The Senate adjourned last night without a vote.
