Friday's storms will have the potential to generate hail in the morning, and hail plus wind and tornadoes later in the day. Flash flooding is also possible with torrential rain in spots. Much improved weather moves in for the weekend. Remember, never drive through floodwater - turn around, don't drown!
9-29-05 - Fast moving storms left some damage in their wake across parts of Texoma Wednesday afternoon – the worst in Grayson county. In Sherman, a partial collapse of the Family Christian Store left four people trapped inside.
It happened at a shopping center near the intersection of Grand and Texoma Parkway. Firefighters believe a very strong gust of wind, possibly over 70 miles an hour, hit the store and collapsed a glass wall into the door. Witnesses described a scene where the roof was rising up and down and the walls were moving. The glass wall didn't break but the people inside couldn't get out. Fire crews on the scene pried open the front door and helped get folks to safety.
The store will be closed indefinitely until a structural engineer gives the ok.
