JOHNSTON CO., OK -- A Durant man is in custody Sunday night accused of leading authorities on a multi-county chase. Atoka County Sheriff’s officials say 20-year-old Stephen Welborn drove away from a Caddo gas station in Bryan County.

The station attended called Atoka County Sheriff’s office, and a Caney police officer began pursuit. He drove up through Atoka, down Highway 7 into Wapanuka in Johnston County.

Troopers say he broke through three different barriers before his tires were deflated two miles east of Tishomingo.

State troopers say by the end, 18 squad cars from agencies in those counties took part in the chase.

Welborn was booked into the Atoka County Jail to be charged with DUI, alluding arrest, and destroying roadblocks.
