Fannin Co., TX -- The proposed Lake Ralph Hall is now in the planning stages, and Tuesday, Fannin County residents were able to ask the Army Corps of Engineers questions about the project.

The Corps set up in Ladonia Tuesday, and say the turnout was impressive. Neighbors who stopped by the meeting were able to ask questions and give comments about the proposed new lake.

Corps representative Jennifer Walker says even though the lake is in the very early planning stages, now is the time they need input from the community.

"It's very important to get people involved early in the process so that we can understand factors that we need to evaluate and how to spend our time wisely," Walker said.

Corps officials will continue to accept public comment and a public hearing is expected to be set up within the next month.

I was at the meeting and missed seeing you there, I was busy talking to residents involved in the lake fight. One man found a park on his land on one map. In prior meetings I don't remember them saying they were going to build parks when I asked that question, but only answered "Do you want a park?" It is the habit of UTRWD to not answer questions but to evade them. The maps are proposed maps but Nancy Tam of UTRWD and others were telling people if you are not "within the lines" you had nothing to worry about. I asked Jennifer of the US Army Corp of Engineers if this was correct and she said no. I suggested to her that she tell them to stop lying to people. The ploy by UTRWD is to stop them from fighting the lake. Jennifer is the one to decide the mitigation not UTRWD and their map is only a beginning figure, a guess. For the last few years they have been telling us the mitigation land would be little to none, they were told by the Corp that was not true and shouldn't say it.
