11-3-05 - An Ardmore veteran receives a prestigious honor Thursday night.
Bill Mitchell, 83, is one of eight being honored statewide by being inducted into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame.
Mitchell served as a medic in the Korean War with the 179th Infantry Regiment of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
He helped save 98 percent of the lives and specialized in helicopter evacuation. He also helped rewrite the pentagon's regulations for mobilizing troops, and he developed the guard's payroll system used nationwide.
"I had a great bunch of technicians that worked for me and made me look good," Mitchell said.
The ceremony will be held Thursday evening on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University.
