KELLYVILLE, Texas (AP) - A statewide search continues today for
a suspect in the overnight shooting death of a Texas Department of
Public Safety trooper in East Texas.

The DPS identifies the slain trooper as 39-year-old James Scott Burns.

A DPS statement says they're searching for 37-year-old Brandon
Wayne Robertson.

DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange (MANJ) said the shooting happened at
the end of a chase last night near a rural crossroads just west of
Kellyville, near Lake O' The Pines. A passer-by saw the wounded man
and used Burns' radio to report that he had been shot.

A DPS statement describes Robertson as white with green eyes and
red hair, 6 feet, 2 inches and weighing 250 pounds. Authorities are
looking for a 1997 blue Dodge Intrepid with Texas license 039-LCG.

Before Tuesday, 82 DPS troopers had died in the line of duty. The last death came on March 14, 2007.

My prayers go out to both families. I knew Brandon when he too was an officer and could not believe that he was using drugs. It is a tradgedy all of it.

May God be with the family of this trooper. Law enforcement officers are not appreciated enough for the job they do. They are out there day and night dealing with people so evil that most people cannot even imagine such a person exists. When they find the man who killed someone's husband, father, son, brother and protector of us all, I hope they string him up to die. He deserves nothing less than the death penalty. But then, death by needle will be too gentle of a death for what he deserves. God bless the men and women in law enforcement. Because of the job you do we can sleep comfortably at night. It takes a special person to want to do a job that pays poorly, yet is so dangerous you need a gun for protection. Thank you for the job you do. People grip and complain because they get traffic tickets, etc., but if they would stop and think of how you put yourself in harms way for their safety, maybe they would be more thankful. To all law enforcement - thank you with all my heart.

The story has been changed. It did not list Robertson as the suspect. It listed another gentleman's name. And Bigfoot reading was one of my better subjects, as was comprehension. And you could post nicer comments on such a sad story. God bless the trooper's family.

FIND THIS GUY and HANG HIM.

I can kinda see where one might get cinfused. The description says a man with red hair and the one shown in the picture has almost no hair but what he does have appears to be very dark. I truely feel bad for the officers family. They have such a dangerous job. It's just so sad.

To the troopers family I am so sorry for your loss. You and Your Family will be in my thoughs.... May god have his badge and halo wateing for him upon his arrival. I praise the person that stoped to help the trooper, that person(s) should get a medal or some kind of pat on the back. Not everyone will stop to help.
