Austin, TX -- It's what many of us have been waiting for, our economic stimulus check. Thousands of them were printed today at the Austin Regional Financial Center. It's a Treasury Department check printing and processing facility.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez was on hand to observe the first mass printing of those economic stimulus checks.

Paper checks will be mailed starting May 9th.

cd is what i am doing, i will accept it but i think it is not the answer, i would have rather had lower gas prices than a 1500 dollar check.. I know some people need it, i do not have to have it or do i expect it...i bust my a** to make a decent living for my family, and do not depend on the government for anything....yes i will take the money, who wouldn't, but i will save it and not blow it on something that will be broke or all used up in a few months.......use your common sense when you get it people, and you will enjoy it much more.....
