SHERMAN, Tex. -- A Sherman woman is fighting for her life after being badly burned in a house fire Monday morning.
It happened in the 300 block of Lee Street around ten o'clock Monday morning.
The name of the 60-year-old woman who was hurt has not been released at this time.
Sherman Fire Chief J.J. Jones said the woman was using a space heater when her clothing caught fire. The flames then consumed most of her body. She is said to have second and third degree burns on 60% of her body.
"Her clothing caught fire, she suffered second and third degree burns to about 60% of her body. She is being transported to Parkland Hospital at this time by air ambulance," Jones said.
There were three other people at the home, none of whom were injured. A relative who was in the house poured water on the woman to extinguish the flames.
"There was very little fire damage done to the house, but obviously a very tragic situation. The loose clothing and the space heater combination did not have a good outcome this morning," Jones also said.
Her condition is unknown Monday evening.
