COLLIN COUNTY, Tex. – The search for a suspect who led police on a high-speed chase through three counties ended just before noon Tuesday. Bobby Lynn Haliburton, 29, of Sherman, was arrested without incident Tuesday morning when officials say witnesses saw him walking down the street about a mile from where he crashed his vehicle Monday afternoon.

The chase that spanned three counties Monday ended on Melissa Road off U.S. 75 in Collin County Monday evening, but authorities were unable capture Bobby Lynn Haliburton, 29, of Sherman, when his vehicle hit a tree, caught fire, and caused a large brush fire in a pasture. He escaped in a field about five miles west of U.S. 75 in Melissa after crashing his vehicle.

After the crash and subseguent fire Monday afternoon, Haliburton was nowhere to be found until Tuesday morning.

Fannin County drug investigators were working a case against the Haliburton on Monday afternoon, but he managed to escape them, taking off in a red Audi with a female passenger.

The chase began in Fannin County, then continued on to Grayson County on Highway 11, before heading south on U.S. 75. The driver apparently drove through a police blockade in Grayson County and swerved toward officers, forcing them to open fire in an attempt to detain him.

Upon driving over the road spikes set up by troopers, the driver turned off U.S. 75 onto Melissa Road in Collin County, before spinning out in a roadside pasture and eventually hitting a tree and causing the car, and then nearby brush, to catch fire.

The vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour during the chase.

Troopers laid down several sets of spike strips, one of them ultimately stopping the vehicle in Collin County.

His female passenger was arrested after the crash. Her name has not yet been released.

Haliburton is now being held in the Collin County Jail on a probation violation charge out of Dallas County and a charge for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance out of Fannin County.

Haliburton could face numerous charges in Fannin, Grayson, and Collin counties. Those charges will be decided by the Fannin County District Attorney.
