ARDMORE, Okla. -- Strong storms popped up in Ardmore last week. It was Wednesday night when we first showed you the incredible video of arcing power lines, destroyed windows, and a community starting to clean up the mess. Robin Beal has more on the cleanup efforts.
Many neighborhoods are still showing the signs of a fierce battle with Mother Nature. We re-visited some of the hardest hit areas Monday and found stacks of limbs on practically every block up and down B Street.
Sterling Mitchell has lived in this neighborhood for three years. He says he was caught just a little off guard when the winds picked up last Wednesday most of his neighbors were, too.
Mitchell was cleaning his truck on Monday. Last week, he was cleaning his yard. City officials say they have gotten a lot of calls from people wanting to know what the hold up is in taking away the piles.
Mitchell is anxious as well, but says he understands city crews are facing a large task.
"It’s okay to wait. Just wait till they get around to us. I know it's going to be a big hassle for around the community, so we're just waiting.” Mitchell says.
Officials we spoke with Monday say they are working on collecting all that debris and are asking people to be like Mr. Mitchell. With a little patience and a little time, and things will be collected just as soon as possible.
