PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. -- An Ada woman learned her punishment for stabbing her teenage son to death this week. Connie Haines, 45, was sentenced to ten years probation on first-degree manslaughter charges.

Haines accidentally stabbed her own son in July 2007 after brandishing a knife during a domestic dispute with her husband.

Chris Carpenter, 17, later died as a result of those wounds.

Haines will also have to pay court costs and reimburse an advocacy group which donated money to pay for Carpenter's funeral.

If it were a father that accidently stabbed his son he would be in prison for a very long time. That woman killed her son.

She has to live with the fact she killed her own son. For me, that would punishment beyond what any one could do to me. I hope it is for her too. I hope this family can recover.

This is really messed up!! If she had killed someone else she would have been in prison for 10 yrs! They gave that one woman who accidentally hit and killed that little 2yr old trying to splash them with water while it was raining a year in jail! But they gave this one 10yrs PROBATION! ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME!! How can you not tell the difference between your 17yr old son and your own husband!! You judges, lawyers, and other court appointed officals make me SICK!! DO YOUR JOBS!! How do you all sleep at night knowing that you are the reason why murders, child molestars, and rapists get out of jail just to kill, molest, and rape again!?
