SHERMAN, Tex. -- After 25 years on the job, one of Sherman’s Finest is leaving the force.

Officer Chuck Mauldin began his career with the Sherman Police Department 25 years ago this July, but he said goodbye to his fellow officers and friends Wednesday.

Mauldin is taking a security job at the federal courthouse, so he won't be too far away. But he says it will be hard to leave.

"It’s been fun. Early in my career, it was one of the toughest nights. I told my wife and she asked if I wanted to quit. I said "Heck no." That was the most fun I ever had," Mauldin said.

After receiving a plaque for his service, a reception was held to celebrate on Wednesday.

I do not know Officer Mauldin but it is good to read and hear about a man that is honest and has the trust of so many that he is charged to protect. There have been so many corrupt police in the news lately that it is refreshing to hear about an honest hard woking dedicated PROFESSTIONAL law man is still out there.Lord knows we need such men.Thank You Police Officer Mauldin for your service to us and may God grant you everything you deserve in your life. And Good Luck in your new job.You are an example to look up to for future lawmen. You will be hard to replace.
