DURANT, Okla. -- Across the United States, and right here in Texoma, people paused to remember the men and women who serve our communities.
Durant Mayor Jerry Tomlinson declared May 15 as Peace Officer Memorial Day Thursday evening.
More than 100 people came out to Market Square in downtown Durant to commemorate the event as well, and show their appreciation for law enforcement in Bryan County.
Flags were also flown at half staff, and the names of officers killed in the line of duty were read aloud as a tribute.
