DENISON, Tex. -- Eisenhower State Park is celebrating its fiftieth birthday in Denison on Saturday, but campers began rolling in Friday.

Representative Larry Phillips will be on hand, and there will be plenty of family events. Park superintendent Paul Kiesel says the facility draws large crowds every year.

"Eisenhower State Park is a wonderful place to bring a family, look around and you see the family, you see the kids around and it's a wonderful place to come and enjoy Lake Texoma. It doesn’t matter if you have kayak or a 60-foot boat or if you have pup tent or a big RV, we've got something for you to do. "

The celebration starts tomorrow at 10 a.m. and lasts all day long.

Congratulations to the Great State of Texas on a fine example of taking a public asset and making it a premier showplace. The facilities are well maintained and very clean. It may cost to go there but all the fees seem to be put back nto its upkeep.A while back there was talk of the Corp not renewing the lease I am so glad to see this place stay the way it is.To the staff good work you have done an outstanding job.Heres to 50 more years.
