SHERMAN, Tex. -- Three men forced their way into a home and stabbed a dog in Sherman over the weekend.

Police say the men entered the home of an acquaintance in the 1000 block of Hub Street early Saturday morning where they assaulted a man. Police say a pit bull in the home tried to protect his owner. Then, 27-year-old Joshua Allen Baeza stabbed the dog multiple times.

Baeza, Ricky Duane Goldsmith, 24, and Jarod Deshawn Jacobs, 22, were arrested and taken to the Grayson County Jail and charged with burglary assault.

Baeza also faces a felony charge of cruelty to animals.

This story is all wrong and that is why the charges are dropped!!!!

Posted by: petra Location: sherman on May 23, 2008 at 09:20 PM
i think whoever thinks joshua, ricky &jarod are somewhat innocent we should get together and try to proof that it did not happen the way that the policereport said.me as an individual could hardly stand up in court but as a group we can do a lot more. i hear so many story about all that.two of them have a family to support and might be in jail because someone aint telling the truth.yeah they did what they did and im not saying they completley innocent but something needs to be straightend out.and where is the proof of a break in??? they were not even arrested at that house. police picked them up about 1 hour after it happend. so who really did kick in the door...??? if thats the proof you got me messed up. and for all yall talking bad about them three and not even knowing them and the circumstances that they are in you need to keep your mouth shut... to put it in a nice way. iam for certain that they had no intentions to break into that house at all. like i said where is the proof??????

Posted by: Leeann Location: sherman on May 23, 2008 at 08:57 PM
WELL ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS IS PEOPLE ARE SO QUICK TO BELIEVE THESE MEN DID THE WORST.. IT IS CRAZY HOW THE GIRLS ARE BEHIND THE WHOLE MESS AND ALL THEY ARE DOING IS LIEING...NOW 3 MEN HAVE BEEN TAKING AWAY FROM THERE FAMILY'S BECAUSE THESE GIRLS ARE LIEING. BUT IN THE END THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT OR I REALLY HOPE IT WILL. I JUST WISH PEOPLE THAT KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WOULD COME FORWARD. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK EVERYONE COMMENTING THIS NOW WHAT IF U WAS AT SOMEONES HOUSE AND ANY KIND OF DOG TRIED TO ATTACK YOU WHAT WOULD YOU DO??? IF ANY OF YOU ARE IN YOUR RIGHT MIND YOU WOULD DEFEND YOURSELF!! AND TO REPLY TO ABBY COMMENT YOU ARE SO RIGHT! THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN OVER THERE IF THE MOTHER WOULDNT OF BEEN CALLING THEM BEGGING THEM TO COME OVER..BUT IT WAS A COMPLETE SET UP BECAUSE THE MOTHER WAS UPSET THAT THE DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BED WITH MOTHERS EX BOYFRIEND??!! SO THERE IS SOME MORE TRUTH FOR YALL.

Posted by: Abby Location: Sherman on May 23, 2008 at 10:13 AM
The three men wouldn't have even gone to the house had the mother not kept calling them and asking them to. Why not put some blame on her? I KNOW she didn't think everything would be fine once they got there and Jarod found his girlfriend in bed with someone else!!! Was that her motive? Sounds like she instigated the events. The dog (happy to say the dog is ok) wouldn't have been hurt had the mother not instigated the men coming over. I'm not trying to say the men shouldn't be charged with a crime but......something just doesn't seem quite right.

How is this such a big deal, people get so hype over this goosip, but how come the laws werent put on blast for taking a 8 month pregnant women for not having her drivers license on demand, she had her license but not on demand now thats what we should be talking about. This whole burlary situation has been blown out of proportion, there were no intents to burglarize, but see how the laws minds work and since the dog attacked for reasons of nature, heck yeah he would have got stabbed to, but I know what the public really wants to hear is that a man was killed by a dog that whats really more important, best believe a humans life is way more imortant than an animal. People need to start telling the truth or 3 men with famlies are going to be innoncently convicted. Has anyone ever thought about how many innocent people are sitting in jail for being wrongfully ACCUSED. Get yalls head together.

I agree with Chris-there are free courses in spelling and English and it looks like some of these people need to check into one. And,I can assure you,my dog would be the last thing one of these creeps had to worry about if they broke into my home. Their primary concern would be how accurately I can fire my S&W.

Posted by: witness 2 the call sayin for them 2 come over!! Location: sherman on May 22, 2008 at 11:17 PM
FIRST OF ALL..THEM GUYS DIDN'T BREAK INTO HER HOUSE..THEY CALLED AND BEGGED THEM 2 COME OVER AND WHEN THEY GOT THERE THE MOTHER WAS OUTSIDE AND ONE OF THEM WENT IN..AND SHE DIDN'T TRY AND STOP HIM..AND THAT'S WHEN HE FOUND HIS BESTFRIENDS WIFE IN BED WITH ANOTHER MAN...AND 4 THE RECORD THE HUSBAND IS IN JAIL!! SO THEN THE FIGHT BROKE OUT..AND THEN THE MOTHER AND THE OTHER 2 MEN WENT IN TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON!! SO HOW DO U SAY THEY BROKE IN??? THEY DIDN'T!!!! WHEN THE FIGHT WAS OVER AND THEY WERE LEAVING THAT'S WHEN THE OWNER OF THE PIT TOLD THE DOG TO SIC EM...SO BAEZA WAS BASICALLY PROTECTING HIMSELF AGAINST THE PIT...AND THE PIT IS OKAY, HE SURVIVED!! THE MEDIA && THE LAWS JUST MADE THIS STORY OUT TO BE MORE THAN WHAT IT WAS!! AND BASICALLY CHARGED THEM BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T LIKE THE INDIVIDUALS!! THEY DIDN'T WANT TO CHARGE THEM WITH A MISDOMEANOR SO THEY GOT THEM ON A FELONY..SO THEY COULD GET THEM OFF THE STREET..WHICH IS TOTALLY BS!!!!

Posted by: Chris Location: Keller on May 22, 2008 at 11:05 PM
How did this go from talking about three idiots breaking into a house to a debate about how safe/unsafe pit bulls are. The fact is these three morons broke into a house looking to assault someone. Had they not done that, the pit would not be an issue. Also, why are so many people on here afraid to put their name when commenting and hide behind "Anonymous". If you have an opinion, state it and have the stones to post your name instead of hiding behind "Anonymous". By the way, communities offer basic English and writing classes at local schools and colleges. There are some on here that should look into it to sound educated when stating an opinion. It is hard to respect one's opinion if they can't even make that opinion in full sentences and correct spelling. If those three came in my house they would have been greeted by a 15 round clip from a 380 and a few blasts from a shotgun.

Posted by: petra baeza on May 22, 2008 at 08:30 PM
im joshuas wife and i dont think it was anything like the police say it was. the homeowner called my husbands cellphone and all three of them were invited to that house were then they got into an argument and a fight broke out. and who would not defend himself if a dog would attack. i sure would. i know my husband, and all of this got blown out of proportion. he would never brake into a house and sure would not hurt a dog on purpose. he is a good father of 3 kids has a good paying job, takes care of his wife, and and what do you know, he also owns 3 dogs and 2 cats. something is not right with that whole incident and somebody needs to get that story right!!! and i sure will fight for that.

After they bread them do they fry them and eat them?

Posted by: Redneck Woman Location: Sherman on May 22, 2008 at 10:55 AM
You're right anonymous... I left out chows and rottenweilers. I don't like them either! Or mastiffs for that matter. In fact, the only dog I really like is mine.

Posted by: Opinionated Location: Ardmore on May 22, 2008 at 09:36 AM
First of all, the point is about the 3 SCUM BAGS that broke in this person's house and attacked them. The dog did it's job and protected it's master and was stabbed for it's efforts. Dookey, I'm with you. Had these three SCUM BAGS broke into my house with me present, the police would have been hauling carcasses out of my house. For all three would have died from a hail of gunfire. And to you other "people", when was the last time you heard of a dachshund, or other small breed of dog killing or maiming someone? Your argument is bogus. Pits, Rotts, Doberman's, and Shephards are bread for attacking humans? You might try to teach them to be "nice", but it is in hundreds of years of breeding.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 21, 2008 at 05:41 PM
Redneck woman, all dogs go for the face it is nature. The only difference is a small dog cannot reach that far and does not have the bite that a larger dog does. I don't recall saying that pit bulls do not attack. All dogs attack if threatened. If you sincerely believe that a pit bull will attack just because it is a pit bull, then you really need to get your facts straight. What about Rottweilers? They are just as agressive. Or chows? You don't have anything to say about chows? I am simply stating that the people that complain about American pit bull terriers do not really know anything about the breed and probably could not even properly point one out if given a test. I encourage all of you to research and learn for yourself instead of listening to the uneducated opinions of the world.

Posted by: Redneck Woman Location: Sherman on May 21, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Are you guys kidding? You want proof pitts attack? Facts? Open your eyes. Ya, every breed bites! But, dachshunds don't go for your throat or eat your face. Hooray for your pitt if it hasn't eaten anyone yet! Hopefully it won't. I just hope you have homeowners insurance for when it does. And I hope it's not a child.

Posted by: Dookey Location: Shermboro on May 21, 2008 at 11:55 AM
I tell you what Nichole, if they break into my house, THEY WILL BE SHOT!! Not once, but several times. I don't care how "good" you think they are, if they come in my house, they will be graveyard dead! Now, Judge That!

Posted by: Thumblelina Location: Anywhere on May 21, 2008 at 10:58 AM
Losers! Hooray for the Dog no matter what breed. My dalmatian would have only grinned at them! Just think thugs like these roam our streets all the time. Scary Huh?

Posted by: Nichole Location: Jones on May 21, 2008 at 09:01 AM
Well don't nobody need to be put on a whipping post or whatever y'all are talking about. Dont try to judge them because you people on here don't even know them! I meqan get real first you say how you dont want pits in Sherman and whatever else but then your mad when someone kills one? Can we say HYPOCRITE! The woman shouldn't have been cheating on her husband.. thats bad on her part. as for them they shouldn't have done what they done, but they did, and im sure they will learn from it.. the law doesn't fairly judge anymore anyway so if they are sentenced to something, im sure it will be more than they deserve.

Posted by: Don't get it Location: AT ALL on May 20, 2008 at 08:32 PM
Why didn't the husband just confront his wife about the matter? The truth is, those three guys had no business getting in the middle of this affair no matter how passionately they felt about it and stirring up fire. Now they're in trouble for it and will have to pay the price. Three boys got in the middle of my son and his girlfriend's affairs, made matters worse and my son died as a result of it. They're not in jail, but as far as I'm concerned they are cowards because they don't want to tell the truth. They know what they did and so does God Almighty. It would be better to tell the truth than let God even the score, imo. People need to keep their noses where they belong...out of other people's business! Something tells me the dog probably didn't make it. I don't know this for fact, but if it was stabbed multiple times it probably didn't make it. Sad. Pit or not, it was defending its master and home...what any good dog will do for the ones it loves.

Posted by: Nichole Location: Jones on May 20, 2008 at 08:14 PM
well first of all let me just let all of you people out there who want to speak your mind. do not call these people idiots, EVERYONE, has made mistakes and they are just young people who messed up at a point in theie left.. there are alot of people out there who have done some dumb things in this world. but think about one of your family members who have done something wrong an have been put in jail; it was dumb right(of course) but there still humans and they still make mistakes. dont be so quick to say something negative as to calling them dumb, when you dont know know what those 3 were going throught or anything as to what they did. They are someones child and to say throw them in jail. That shows that you ahve very bad characteristics in your ownself. as for the dog. if a pitbull attacks you, i am sure that u would do anything even if it took that they did to get it off them. Yes they were wrong, but dont be so quick to judge people.honestly ppl r getn more time than they deserve.

Posted by: Jay Location: Oklahoma on May 20, 2008 at 05:49 PM
Well first of all what idiot decides to assualt a man? Especially with a dog. I can not believe how dumb these men could be they should just be thrown away in jail we don't need people like this anymore (criminals). I hope that dog is okay also. Anyone know what happend to it?

Posted by: Anonymous on May 20, 2008 at 05:35 PM
Just out of curiosity, do any of you have concrete facts to back up what you are saying about pit bulls? Or are you aware the only reason pit bulls are considered so dangerous is because they have a powerful jaw. Dachshunds bite too, but I don't hear anyone griping about them. My grandmothers dachshund has done more damage to her than my pit bull has to me because she is the most docile creature I have ever met. Do you really know anything about pit bulls? Have you researched for yourself, or are you just going by what the media tells you? Have you ever actually been around a pit bull? I really would like to know where you all are getting your facts from.

Posted by: Buddy Location: Sherman on May 20, 2008 at 04:36 PM
The dog deserves a medal for bravery. If someone breaks into my house and stabs my dog, he better hope that he does not get out of jail until my dog is to old to get even. I would love for the dog to be able to go one on one with the home invaders.

Award for the most idiotic statement on this board for the year - "My best friend owns 2 pits and they are the most precious dogs." I didn't think it was possible to be more insane that Homeschool Dad or Republican in Ardmore, but you did it. Don't be shocked when the precious pits "playfully" tear a limb off the two year old.

Posted by: carolyn on May 20, 2008 at 01:39 PM
dear anonymous i have not by any means said that its okay to break in and assault someone even if you are a animal lover but the media made it seem as if he was doing it just to hurt the dog and the owner thats not the case is all im saying

Posted by: Bill Location: Southmayd on May 20, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Believe me Jason in Okla/Texas there are Pit Bulls,I have seen them for myself and there's even pictures of them,Yea buddy, they are real.I agree it should have and probably did attack them, thats why he (or she) was stabbed. Now about Bigfoot, thats another thing....

Posted by: haters on May 20, 2008 at 12:23 PM
I feel like this was a chance for the laws to put somone in jail they dont care about the victims ethier, the supposed victims know what really went on and they know what they be doing so this was another opportunity for the laws once again, dang people dont yall get it.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 20, 2008 at 12:16 PM
So, Carolyn, breaking into someone's house and assaulting them is okay if the person doing it is an animal lover?

Posted by: Anonymous on May 20, 2008 at 11:57 AM
In response to dog owner - They did not say "family dog", because pit bulls tear families apart by killing small children. They are in no way, shape, or form, a "family" dog. Are you serious ? Surely, even you, aren't that jaded in your dire support of dogs to call ap itt bull a "family" dog.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 20, 2008 at 11:55 AM
My best friend owns 2 pits and they are the most precious dogs. They are really gental around his 2 yr old son. Yeah pits have a bad name but look at the ones that attack people, who are there owners? How do there owners treat them? ALL dogs have the potential to attack and kill. Most of these dogs that have hurt or killed someone there owners made them mean by treating them horrible. Pits arent born mean...they are taught to be mean. But if you teach them to be gental, be kind, teach them how to trust you and show them they can trust you, you arent gonna have problems with them or any breed for that matter.

Posted by: me Location: here on May 20, 2008 at 11:53 AM
i agree with everything you said dog owner.

Posted by: Friend Location: Dallas on May 20, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Well, for starters the girl should not have been cheating on her husband!! These men we're friends of the husband though and ovbiously didn't feel what she was doing was right. Tie em to a whoopin pole??? Get real this is 2008 not 1808 we don't do that anymore. However they are going to be punished for what they did and yes, they deserve their punishment

Posted by: Erick Gent Location: Denison on May 20, 2008 at 11:18 AM
If we fazed all the pit bulls out, the criminals would just find another type of dog to breed into killers. I have to say it is the criminals (and wanna be criminals) who have turned these dogs into a bad breed. I don't ever remember hearing about these dogs until "gangster" rap came along. They influenced a generation of kids/young adults to think having a killer breed is cool. For the folks who breed the dog for the good traits stand behind their loyality (without them attacking anyone). I would personally never own one because I don't like their looks, Labs are more my speed.

Posted by: Leah Location: Tx on May 20, 2008 at 10:07 AM
I went to school with Baeza also, he was a trouble maker in school but he has a family now and I thought that he had grown up but I guess not, my thoughts go out to his wife and kids because now the father and husband they had wont be around because he wanted to do stupid stuff.

Posted by: dog owner Location: U.S.A. on May 20, 2008 at 09:58 AM
Why couldn't they have just said "family dog?" The media has to be sure and point out that it was a pit bull. I don't think it matters what breed, a loyal dog will do what it has to in order to protect its family. Good dog!

Posted by: magan on May 20, 2008 at 09:47 AM
I hope that POS that stabbed the dog goes straight to hell

i want everyone to know that this is not the real beaza i worked with josh at a vet clinic and he loves animals .. dont judge untill u know the whole part of the story ok .. however im not saying he didnt do wrong because he did however just to let you know this wasnt the real beaza he was on this day

I don't like seeing where *any* breed of dog hurts/kills an *innocent* person - but in this case, *good dog!!*

Posted by: Betty Location: Sherman on May 20, 2008 at 09:10 AM
This really upset me when I heard about it, until I read it was a pitt. One less pitt to worry about, although it was senseless and cruel. Mixed feelings about this... just hate those dogs. But, I don't wish suffering to any creatures.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 20, 2008 at 08:04 AM
Grow up, Pit hater. I don't like pits either but the way this dog behaved is the way I'd want MY dog (Irish setter, ha ha) to behave if an intruder broke into my house!

i hope the owner and his dog will be ok.

See where another Pit Bull killed a 7 yr. old yesterday in Abilene ??? Oh yeah, I forgot...This is probably an isolated incident. Exterminate the breed before another innocent human life is lost.
