Denison, TX -- After what officials call a successful election in Denison, two new council members and a new mayor pro-tem are serving the city.
Monday night the new city leaders took an oath to serve their community. Jared Johnson and David Spindle were all sworn in as city councilmen, and presented with certificates of election.
Mayor Robert Brady says 964 registered voters cast a ballot in the election and calls that a successful turnout for Denison.
The councilmembers immediately took their chairs and began serving their terms.
Former councilman Dan Mooney was also presented a plaque in appreciation of his years of service to the city.
The mayor also declared May 28th Dan Mooney Day.
Monday night was also the first council meetingfor leaders in dozens of other cities who won in the May 10th elections.
