OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Senate has approved a bill to crack down on copper thieves, while requiring more stringent record keeping by scrap metal dealers.
Besides increasing fines and jail time for copper thieves, the measure requires dealers to retain a photo copy of the driver's license of anyone selling copper, as well as the license number on their vehicle.
The bill, by Sen. Cliff Branan, R-Oklahoma City, now goes to Gov. Brad Henry.
