10-23-05 – Hundreds of treasure hunters gathered in Moyers, Oklahoma Saturday – hoping to uncover more than 10,000 pieces of silver. Buffalo nickels and coins that date back to the 1800s can be found with the help of a metal detector.
Saturday, members of the Wide World Association of Treasure Seekers came together for their annual rally at the K-River Campground in Moyers. Organizers bury the coins and the seekers are responsible for finding them. However, some treasure hunters believe the Kiamichi River carries gold beneath the surface. They’ve found small amounts in the past and hope to uncover more in the future.
