10-24-05 – About 20 volunteers gathers at Carpenters Bluff to clean up trash that’s been piling up along the Red River. Volunteers picked up sheets of iron, chairs, cans and bottles among other trash. Organizers say they just wanted to do something about the trash problem that has plagued the area for years.
An entire Boy Scout Troop from Pottsboro also participated, working for three hours.
A local company donated a trash dumpster for the day, which volunteers filled to the brim with debris collected along the trails that run under the Carpenters Bluff Bridge.
The volunteers say they will plan pick-up days at least twice a year.
