Fire Destroys Fannin Co House

10-28-05 - Flames and smoke filled the sky in Ravenna, Texas, Thursday as flames were spotted by a passer-by coming from a house nine miles north of Bonham on Highway 78 just before noon.

Officials say the house was empty.

Fire fighters from several departments fought the flames with water trucks since no fire hydrants were in range of the house.

Several other homes were in the surrounding area, but the fire was controlled before it could spread.

"I heard the fire trucks and ambulances coming, looked out the door, everyone was over here and the house was on fire," next door neighbor Susan Murphay said.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
