11-3-05 - A Sherman man was found guilty Wednesday of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault stemming from an abduction in February of 2005.
Kevin Wayne McKibban, 42, was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to five years in prison for the kidnapping charge and two years for the assault charge. The trial took place in the 336th District Court with Judge Lauri Blake presiding.
On February 1, 2005, Justin Jones, 24, told Sherman Police that two men abducted him, took him to a trailer owned by McKibban. Once there, three men, McKibban, Jamie Lee Green, and Terry Wiersgalla, Jr., beat him in part over a $150 debt. Jones suffered a broken nose and severe cuts and bruising.
It took the jury one hour to find McKibban guilty for his role in the crimes. Green and Wiersgalla remain under indictment for the incident.
?All three of these men deserve to be in prison for this beating,? said District Attorney Joe Brown. ?We are pleased that we were able to get this defendant convicted, and now we intend to do the same thing with the other two. They actually were more involved and did more of the beating than McKibban did, so we think a jury will be even tougher on them.?
