SHERMAN, Tex. -- The owner of a Sherman car wash caught burglars in the act on Monday and followed them in his car, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Sherman police say the co-owner of the Oasis Car Spa on West Houston Street drove up to see people stealing from the change machines. Police say the co-owner started following the car.

The two cars were driving more than 100 miles per hour on wet roadways. The suspects got away.

Dispatchers advised the man to slow down and don't recommend people ever drive that fast on slick roads.

"Grow Up" this man did put on their big girl panties and chased after these punks because the cops were too lazy or no where to be found!!!

Posted by: jake Location: sherman on Jun 12, 2008 at 12:01 PM
I support the police and even if they were able to find the car I wouldn't want them chasing him at 100 MPH for a few dollars, what if one of the cars struck a mini van full of kids. Then all you cry babies would be calling for the officers head saying he was too aggresive. Get over it and suck it up!!!

I think that all of the people complaining about the police ought to put on their big girl panties and try to do the job of the police for just one day...heck one hour...I am sure you would fold and then be more forgiving and understand what it takes to ge the job done! I support Sherman PD and what the officers are able to get done. Take for instance the recent sexual assault case!!! Life sentences on two and 35 years on the other!!! How soon we forget!!

yeah, i guess they should spend more time on locking up people who smoke weed

"friend" it looks like that someone did get up off their butts and did do something, the guy chased after these idiots but you sure can't say that the cops were doing their job now can you

Posted by: SCOTT Location: SHERMAN on Jun 11, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Tom, you ain't got a clue!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jun 11, 2008 at 12:56 PM
Anonymous at 8:25, if this guy was chasing these punks and ended up killing someone the speed that he was driving he would be in serious trouble he had no right in doing that, get the license plate # turn it in and let the cops handle it and yes I know you are probably saying they will never do nothing about it and you are probably right but it is better than getting out on that highway and killing someone or yourself he is really lucky that they did not have a gun and pull it on him and he could be lying in the hospital right now or dead, money is not worth your life and surely nothing worth chasing after either

Posted by: Fed up resident. on Jun 11, 2008 at 12:44 PM
A shotgun would have solved this so much more quickly. What I mean of course is that the bad guys car could have been disabled before they started the chase.

Posted by: Friend Location: Sherman on Jun 11, 2008 at 12:23 PM
You ppl have no idea what it takes to be a police officer and put up with ppl like yourselves all day. If you all could do it better, then get off your duffs and do it! You have no idea the situation details on this matter or really anyother on this website, and still you spread your ignorance and judgments. I cannot believe you have such low tolerance for these men who go off to work everyday to protect your kids and family. Do you realize that when they go to work, they may never come home because of idiots like you who hate cops because they all share a badge. I agree there are good cops and bad ones. and its very unfortuate that all of them are judged as bad until proven otherwise. I am not a cop, nor married to one but I know there are good guys out there. I really think if you are this unsatisfied with the way your law enforcement reacts, you should do something about it insead of just running your mouths, or its never going to get any better.

Scott, I guess your either a Sherman police officer or related to one. The fact is most police officers spend more time on minor things like double white lines, no seal belts... It is a shame when a real matter needs an officer and they are no where around.

Posted by: Scott Location: sherman on Jun 11, 2008 at 10:58 AM
I for one believe the Sherman Police are great! What a bunch of fantastic guys and the Detective's are not only good looking but sharp too!

I'm waiting for someone to step in and defend the SPD but nothing yet. I guess we know how everybody feels about them.

It is pretty sad that we have to take care of ourselves because we can't depend on the Sherman PD. You can bet if anyone would have been hurt in the robbery, the carwash owner is the one who would have been blamed for taking matters into his own hands. However, I say good for him. Somebody needs to take a stand and let these criminals know they can't do whatever they want and get away with it. I had six SIX! Sherman PD in my neighborhood one night looking for children on bicycles. Exactly how many cops does it take to arrest a child? They should be out patrolling and getting rid of the illegal aliens.

Posted by: Don Location: Sherman on Jun 11, 2008 at 03:52 AM
SPD is a joke. They couldnt catch a cold more or less a criminal.

First off you people that are complaining about it just being "car wash money" are ignorant. It takes money to replace or repair the machine the thugs broke into. This car wash is owned by a hard working business man who now has to clean up a mess that should have never been made! Yes, there was a call to 911. Yes, there was a liscense plate given but it did not match the vehicle in which they [thugs]were driving. The speed was apparently too much for the auothorities and they refused to get involved. Sherman PD and Grayson County move at the speed of slugs. They don't care that business owners or individuals lose out as long as they have their almighty paychecks in hand. I've seen it first hand trying to deal with, reporting theft, and actually having to call EVERYDAY just to get them to prosecute these kinds of people. It's ridiculous when, literally, YEARS go by and nothing is done. Obviously something needs to change but what can any of us do to change it at the higher level?

The hillbilly Sherman PD is campin out at the Shell Station next to Wal-mart givin people like my MiiMaaww tickets for crossing the double white line; rather than catchin tha real criminals! somebody at the sherman pd office needs to get their priorities straight!

Posted by: Gimpboy on Jun 10, 2008 at 05:23 PM
also car wash money adds up most people spend like $10 dollars to wash their car

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 04:50 PM
I saw two SPD cars on top on the median at the top of the hill on 75 in front of TI yesterday. Why it takes two of them to do the job of the State Troopers, I have no idea. They are supposed to be patroling neighborhoods and city streets. I was sure to flash my lights to oncoming traffic. Maybe the rest were at working out while on the job? Seen that too...

Posted by: Worthless SPD on Jun 10, 2008 at 04:41 PM
License plate # is apparently worthless or they are truly lazy. A local business owner was broken into that had cameras installed. he had the license plate # and pictures of the vandals. Months have gone by and SPD and still done jack squat!

Posted by: Sherman Location: Sherman on Jun 10, 2008 at 04:07 PM
Sherman resident at 2:43 you are exactly right, I called 911 one time and the dispatcher told me that they could not dispatch anyone out because they were on the other side of town close to Denison, she told me that if I was closer to Denison that someone could help me.

Posted by: Stephanie on Jun 10, 2008 at 03:38 PM
Its a shame that as usual there is no cops around when u need one. They were all probally at the Exon gas station by Walmart where they all hang out, one time I needed them for a family abuse call and it took them 30 min. to respond thank god my x left before I got really hurt!

Posted by: Hey Location: Denison on Jun 10, 2008 at 02:56 PM
How is that stupid car wash money?? That is how they profit.

Posted by: AMBER Location: BONHAM on Jun 10, 2008 at 02:51 PM
DID HE GET A LIC. PLATE NUMBER? OR ANYTHING?

Posted by: Sherman Resident Location: Sherman on Jun 10, 2008 at 02:43 PM
Let's see they are driving around the man is following them and he is on the phone with dispatch...where was that wonderful Sherman PD? Turtles could respond faster than they do. I mean during the time this guy was following the suspects they never got close to a Sherman Officer or was it just not important enough for them to respond.
