11-17-05 - Denison schools are planning for future growth. A new location for the bus barn and transportation offices is in the works.
The 40 school buses plus transportation vehicles don't fit at the district's current facility, but on Tuesday night, the school board took steps to change that.
They have approved a contract for puchasing the old Sherrard Motors facility on Texoma Parkway. The purchase could cost up to $475,000 from the budget reserves, but would more than double the space to 26,000 square feet.
"It will improve out ability to maintain our fleet and to park our fleet in a way that it can be protected plus all our other maintenance vehicles," Denison Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott said.
If the district can close on the purchase in the next two or three months, then they will move into the new facility in July.
