DURANT, Okla. -- Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma in Durant hosted a seminar Thursday to help small businesses get off the ground. It was called a "Small Business Mini Course," and new or established businesses from around the area were invited to participate.

The seminar offered instructions on how to pay off taxes, help manage finances, and how to appeal to a large consumer base.

Organizers hope that this event will help those who attend succeed especially in these times.

"The economy is bad right now, but small businesses are getting started. Sometimes it’s getting the money, sometimes it’s just having the knowledge of what they need to be doing," Barbara Rackley at the REI Women's Business Center says.

If you couldn't attend the seminar and would like more information, you can contact REI at 580-924-5094.
