11-20-05 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State Treasurer Scott Meacham is expected to appear tomorrow before a House committee looking at the state's tobacco tax.
Members of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee want to ask Meacham about tax compacts he negotiated with several American Indian tribes.
Officials say the committee will review how the tax has affected the marketplace.
Committee members were told Thursday that tribal stores are selling a carton of cigarettes for about ten dollars less than nontribal stores because they're using the wrong, cheaper tax.
Tomorrow's meeting will begin at 9 A-M in the House chamber of the state Capitol.
Meacham will also be representing Governor Brad Henry.
