11-22-05 - Texas has received a $26.45 million federal grant to defray costs for incarcerating illegal immigrants, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said Monday.
The grant from the U.S. Department of Justice will help 96 of the state's 254 counties.
"While I am pleased this funding is being awarded to local communities throughout Texas, we must find a way to ease this burden permanently," Hutchison said. "Our borders must be secured. It is a national security and safety issue for our country."
