Very heavy rainfall is expected in several waves, early Friday morning, again Friday evening/night, and a final round during the day Saturday. Storm totals to 8 inches are possible.
11-30-05 - A grass fire sparked a much larger problem today when it hit a business that sold railroad ties. The heavy lumber burned like kindling in a fire that could be seen for miles along Highway 82.
You could see the black smoke for miles. It was coming from hundreds of railroad ties, part of a business near Sadler.
Those ties were lit by a grass fire and acted as a massive pile of firewood, making it tough to extinguish.
It’s been burning for four hours now. Firefighters say they are trying to save as many ties as they can but the ones already burning are making it difficult to put the flames completely out.
