12-2-05 - The state Department of Human Services is now taking applications for the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
DHS expects to have about eight million dollars to help low-income residents pay their heating bills this winter. The program helped 90-thousand families last year.
Applications are available through the department's county offices and will be accepted through December 20th.
Eligibility for assistance is based on household income and assets. A recent heating bill and proof of income information will be required for the application.
