12-3-05 – The dry conditions made fighting a fire in Carter County more difficult Saturday afternoon. It took four fire departments about two hours to extinguish a grass fire that destroyed one home on Dickson Road.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 12:20 p.m. They believe someone was burning brush which started a house fire. The flames spread and destroyed 20 acres.
Other homes were threatened; however firefighters were able to control the fire.
The wind, dry conditions and extra hay added fuel to the fire.
