Friday, June 20, is National Take Your Pet to Work Day, but before you bring them to the office, you may need to evaluate your pet's personality.
National Take Your Dog to Work Day celebrates our furry friends’ companionship to us, and is meant to encourage adoption from humane societies, shelters, and rescue organizations.
"Banfield's motto is we treat pets like family…pets are family." Dr. Wes Archer at Banfield Pet Hospital says.
But before you think about taking your dog to work, Dr. Archer says you need to think about how your dog will handle the work place.
"Pets need to be socialized, has to be non-aggressive, have vaccinations, and be clean."
Dr. Archer says not every animal is meant to take out in public, and you should think about the impact taking your dog to work will have on your dog. In many cases, dogs can become stressed or anxious in public.
"If you have an aggressive, smelly, problem dog, would be counterproductive in this case."
Also, not every work place is canine-friendly so be sure to check with your employer first.
Take Your Dog to Work Day is supposed to be a fun and creative way to demonstrate how dogs can impact people.
"You don't want to take it to work and find out you have to take it back home."
Just make sure you make the experience is positive for everyone involved.
