ARDMORE, Okla. -- An elderly man is now in jail on sexual assault charges. Ardmore police say 80-year-old Jimmy Joe Pollard is accused of fondling an adult woman in broad daylight.

The woman told police she was walking in southwest Ardmore on Thursday afternoon when Pollard pulled up next to her in a car and offered her a ride. When the woman refused, she says Pollard grabbed her and tried to force her into his car.

She says she was touched inappropriately in the scuffle. The woman managed to break free and call police.

No word yet on bond for Pollard.

To Former Neighbor, I really hope that you give your testimony/statements whatever is needed to get this creep off the streets! It's almost to the point that I feel I need to buy my daughter and myself a can of pepper spray!

Posted by: Former Neighbor Location: Ardmore on Jun 24, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Its just nice for him to finally have gotten in serious trouble over it. Just to let all mothers know, he drives an old white 4 door car, he rides around with his shirt unbottoned and looking to pick up woman, kids and even little boys from what I heard in the neighborhood about him. I realize he is 80 years old, that makes absolutely no difference to me escpecially when it comes to my daughters. It is my job to protect them at all cost.

Former Neigbor - good for you! I have a 13 year old that looks 20, as many do. I would hate to think of her Daddy going to prison for killing a 80 year old man. Good luck to you & your girls!

What is it with MEN? They never seem to be able to give it up. No matter how old they are, #%& is All thats on their mind. They want "it" till they take their last breath.

It is very scary to think, we as women, cannot walk alone on streets in broad daylight, without an escort, just to be kept safe now a days.

Dont think I wont be contacting the DA. I called the police a number of occasions. Once I called the police several neighbor ladys came and talked with me. I have 2 daughters that could not even play outside. Needless to say I moved 2 weeks ago and he pulled up to talk to me about where I was going. He should have been off the streets long before now. I cant believe some of the hahaha comments that are on here. Yeah..hes 80, but hes alert enough to go driving around being a predator and knows how to get back home. He is not a feeble physically sick old man. He is well aware of his actions. I knew since it was summertime, he would be back in full force and guess I was right. I will do what ever I can to press charges against him AGAIN!!

Fozzy - I agree. Also, if those bleeding hearts *have* a little girl. If he wants to "touch" someone there is plenty around who pass it out for free. His former neighbor should go to the DA with her statement. This would help the DA in determining how this perv will be sentenced. I am sorry you had to live by someone like this.

Heather, FOZZY didn't say it was a little girl...he said that he wondered if people would be defending him IF THIS HAD BEEN a little girl (as opposed to a grown woman). Who needs to learn how to read???

Posted by: Former Neighbor Location: Ardmore on Jun 23, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Let me tell ya, I used to live next door to this man and he constantly harrassed me. I dont care how old a person is, that doesnt give anyone the right to act the way he did. He should register as a sex offender, thats what he is. I called the police more than once on him for offering sex and screaming across the road at me. Its about time he got arrested.

Posted by: haha? on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:25 PM
please...go to any nursing home in town, find youself an 80 year old, look at this person real good..... i don't know if i should just sort of laugh at this story or LMMFKNAO!!

Posted by: heather on Jun 21, 2008 at 08:33 PM
FOZZY,learn how to read,this was not a little girl,it was a grown woman,you idiot.

Posted by: Thurmon Merman Location: Sherman on Jun 21, 2008 at 06:07 PM
Poor thing will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. What really happened? Geez...!

Posted by: Mom Location: OK on Jun 21, 2008 at 04:58 PM
Terrible that he did this. If he has always been this way then- why is he still on the street. If this is the first time he has done something like this, then he needs to be evaluated for Alzheimer's.

Posted by: Ardmoreite Location: Ardmore on Jun 21, 2008 at 02:59 PM
This guy doesn't look like a typical 80 yr old gummin grits and who barely can get around, if he can get it up, he can go to jail!

Posted by: Sean on Jun 21, 2008 at 11:06 AM
something does not sound right here!!I can't wait to see and hear what really happened!!!!

Posted by: Fozzy Location: Ardmore on Jun 21, 2008 at 11:01 AM
I wonder if those defending this old pervert would be doing so had this been a little girl??

Posted by: Mork Location: Ork on Jun 21, 2008 at 09:14 AM
I wondered what happend to my long lost uncle Pervy! Their has to be more to this story. Things just don't add up.

NO MATTER HOW OLD A PERSON IS, WHEN SOMEONE DOES AN INAPPROPRIATE ACT ON SOMEONE ELSE,THAT PERSON NEEDS TO SEE TIME IN PRISON FOR THAT ACT.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 21, 2008 at 02:44 AM
I find it hard to believe that an 80yo man could get out of his vehicle and catch a woman fleeing after his refusal, get her into his truck and fondle her during this struggle. then she still managed to get free to call police? obviously she volunteered to get into that vehicle, got fondled and escaped easily to call police. I don't know the details of the conversation, but that sounds pretty dang close to prostitution

Posted by: ardmore on Jun 20, 2008 at 11:19 PM
