Car Accident Turns Into Homicide Case

12-8-05 - A 20-year-old pregnant woman is dead and her boyfriend is in the hospital after what appears to be a domestic argument between the two.

The McCurtain County couple was in a vehicle driving on Cully Road eight miles south of Haworth when their car hit a parked vehicle at about 8 p.m. Monday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was called to investigate what was thought to be a fatal wreck. After their investigation, a medical examiner’s investigator spotted stab wounds on Shalonda Bendler’s neck. Several hours later, the McCurtain County Sheriff called OSBI to investigate this case as a homicide.

The woman’s boyfriend, 24-year-old John David Noah, is recovering from several broken bones in an area hospital.

OSBI agents have made no arrests in this homicide case at this time.
