BOSWELL, Okla. -- Police in Boswell say they are infuriated over a recent rape case involving a teenager. They say this crime has not only affected the victim but many other residents of the small town.

A rape of any kind is awful, but the facts of this particular case have police warning the public this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

Boswell police say sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight on Sunday night, a 14-year-old girl was abducted from a street in Boswell in western Choctaw County. Police say her attackers took her to the baseball fields in town, and between one to three people raped her there.

The victim later called a friend who notified police.

Police say the victim was visiting family in Boswell and was walking from one relative's house to another.

The suspect is thought to be an acquaintance.

"They should stay on alert. Be aware of their surroundings, perception of what's around them is a big thing and just because you know somebody, maybe you really don't know them," Boswell police Chief Todd Farrell said.

Police say the attackers could also be minors, but they are working on all leads. They have applied for a grant that would provide another police officer to focus on domestic violence and sexual assault to bring more awareness and prevention in the future.
