BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. -- It was a close call for a Bryan County man Tuesday afternoon when his car crashed into a train.

It happened at a BNSF rail crossing on Correll Road, northwest of Colbert.

State troopers say the man did not hear the train coming and collided with the engine. He was not injured, but his car was badly damaged.

Troopers say if he had been any closer to the train, it could have been much worse.

"I spoke to the driver, and he is familiar with this area and travels through here frequently. He looked for the train but didn't see it and did not hear the horn, but the horn was activated. So the best message is stop, look, listen and live," Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Steve Nabors said.

The train was not damaged in the accident.

Chester, watch the video it shows a picture of the car, it was not a fender bender-took off most of the front end. Pretty close call, the guy is lucky. Go OHP!(they can't help it,TV is scary man!)

What a STUPID remark to make by the Trooper.Like anon @7;59 said, How much closer can you get than actually hitting the train? you cant.As far as Mr.Cedarstacker( alias Mr.Crackerstacker) goes his given name was Peter Whippersnapper something about translation from Snapper to Cracker then back to Stacker or somesuch.........

Posted by: PB Location: and Milk on Jun 25, 2008 at 05:28 PM
Yeah Ghost, FYI, he's not Peter Cedarstacker. That's just an alias. He's actually known as Peter Crackerstacker. So now you know.

I live 1,000 ft from some railroad tracks and I can hear the train quite easily when it is going past, it even wakes me up at night sometimes. How can other people possibly not hear a train when they're sitting at a crossing? Roll down your windows, and turn off your radio!

Peter Cedarstacker is an imposter!

It happened at a BNSF RR Xing on Correll road NW of Colbert for those of you who can't read. But I have to agree on the way the article is written that THANK GOODNESS the TRAIN wasn't hurt. And the part about if he had been any closer...was this just a little fender bender with a train?

Jeez- if you don't like KXII, change the blasted channel and quit loggin on the site!!!!! I am GLAD to know there was no damage to the train- The crew members on board have family who care about them too. Thank goodness NOBODY was hurt. Quit yer bitchin' Pete!

Oh thank goodness THE TRAIN wasn't hurt! I sometimes wonder if the entire community is on crack. I'm embarrassed when people ask me where I'm from. That's a ridiculous statement to make. I'm just glad the MAN is okay. That's ALL that matters really. Priorities, remember? UGH

Where did this happen at? Nice report!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 24, 2008 at 07:59 PM
"Troopers say if he had been any closer to the train, it could have been much worse." How much closer can you get if you have already collided?

Posted by: Concerned Resident Location: Bryan County on Jun 24, 2008 at 07:24 PM
There are many crossings in Bryan County where there is no lights and no crossguards. I am so glad this was not a fatality. Teenagers listen to their music too loud to hear a train and some others cannot hear that well. Come on people, stop at the railroad crossings. It won't take that much time.

you know why the train was not damaged in the accident? BECAUSE ITS A TRAIN!!!!!!!!
