Early signs have pointed to sluggish results and business organizations say many stores are offering huge discounts to clear inventory.
Even so, the National Retail Federation says November and December sales should check in at just shy of 440 billion dollars.
Bealls Department Store in Sherman does 25% of its business on Saturdays and managers say they expect to double their sales on the 24th.
