12-25-05 - NEW YORK (AP) - Many Americans are enjoying Christmas and the first day of Hanukkah with their families and friends. But for others, it's just another workday.
Fred Austin, who owns Katz's Delicatessen on Manhattan's Lower East Side, says he couldn't think of a better way to spend the holiday. As he put it: "there's so much energy here and so much life." And he says "Everybody's having a good time."
Austin says the deli is open every day of the year.
In Sherman, 17 firefighters worked the Christmas shift. The police department, convenience stores, and several restaurants were also open on Christmas Day.
