Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
Witnesses say a man was driving too fast on Highway 377 in Whitesboro and it may have cost him his life. The man swerved to miss another vehicle and slammed into a signal light pole.
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 82 and 377 in Whitesboro.
The driver of the pick-up truck was killed when he swerved to miss another vehicle and hit the signal light pole head on.
No one else was injured. Police have not released the name of the victim.
