Several rounds of thunderstorms through Saturday will have the potential to produce flooding rains, and a few isolated hail cores or strong winds are possible. Never drive into flooded areas...turn around, don't drown!
1-5-06 - Oklahoma's burn ban is being expanded to ease the fire danger as forecasters say the wind gust will remain high for days to come. The state's Secretary of Agriculture Terry Peach says the conditions and the out of control blazes call for more extreme precautions.
More than 350,000 acres and 220 homes have been destroyed since November 1st. The expanded burn ban is going to prohibit campfires and outdoor grilling and it implements more restrictions on outdoor welding activities.
The welding restrictions include several requirements such as the wind speeds have to be less than 15 miles per hour and a the relative humidity needs to be above 30 percent. Also two fireguards must be on site with pressurized water available.
