ARDMORE, Okla. -- You may have heard it before and thought it was an old wives tale, but there was a serious discussion about personality and the order in which children are born Wednesday in Ardmore. Robin Beal was there, and he had a little quiz for a certain KXII-TV anchorman.

The “leader lesson” was put on by the OSU Extension Office at hardy Murphy Coliseum. A few dozen ladies were in attendance for the lecture and the discussion was actually pretty lively at times.

The tough questions were asked…

-Is the youngest kid always a holy terror?
-Do middle children really tend to be underachievers?
-Is the only son predisposed to being a momma's boy?

“A first born child is going to be more intelligent than his siblings, not necessarily more intelligent than the general population. Probably will be a higher earning person, they're rule followers, they have the leadership skills,” Cindy Clampet at the OSU Extension Office says.

Of course, it was somewhat unscientific. There are exceptions to any rule, but organizers say that these old wives tales do have a little bit of credence.

Watch the video to see Robin’s tough questions for anchor (and only child) Charlie Haldeman.

I think the key is that "as a average", which means not all or everytime. And to the guy who dissed Robin, where were you in birth order. Momma needs to teach you some manners. BTW, the OSU comments don't fit my family. either. My middle sister is the lowest achiever, but I am the most successful and highest wage earner and I am the youngest.

I am not sure where you get your info from. I am the youngest in my family. My mom states that I am and was always the better child. It was the oldest child who was the HOLY TERROR . I am also the most sucessful and have done better with my life than anyone else in my family. The older child graduated a year late at age 19. I graduated a year early with honors at age 16. I am also more responsible. My husband is the only son and he is in NO way a momma's boy. So everything that is stated above is way off for our family. Thanks for reading.

I think the oldest child usually tends to be the bossiest, as well. My oldest son, who is only 9, is the bossiest child you could ever hope to meet in your life... and he's definitely not a "momma's boy" (he doesn't like me much because I don't let him get away with everything). My youngest child is very sweet and loves everybody, and never has tantrums. And my husband (middle child of 5) is the highest wage-earner of his siblings, he has a doctorate and earns 3 times what his oldest sibling does, and is admired by his boss for how hard he works. He's no underachiever!

I wrote a 5 to 10 page paper over this for one of my college Psych classes. And its amazing how the birth order and personalities do match my siblings and parents. Im a middle child, but I have a lot of the same traits that my older bro has and same traits as my younger sister. You cant really generalize they way someone is based on someones birth order completely. But it is interesting to figure out why a person acts the way they do at times. I learned a lot about my family and why they act the way they do partially because of their birth order.

What's the "study" based on, it appears anecdotal from your reporting. If you are the first born child, the piece says you are supposed to be the most successful. Dude you work for channel 12, what do your siblings do, haul garbage?
