1-7-06 – A 33-year-old Durant man was killed after his car ran off a county road, two miles north of Durant, and hit a tree.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Jennings Dean Martin was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Another passenger, 33-year-old Kendall Perkins was taken to a Durant hospital in stable condition with internal and leg injuries. Dawn Smith, a 22-year-old from Durant, was also taken to the hospital in stable condition. Smith’s 8-month-old daughter sustained internal injuries and was taken to Children’s Medical Center in Oklahoma City. The infant was last listed in stable condition.
A three-year-old girl was in the back seat and she was also taken to Children’s Medical Center in serious, but stable condition. She sustained head and internal injuries in the accident.
Troopers say the car, driven by Martin, was traveling too fast when it ran off the road and hit a large cedar tree.
