Madill Special Election Decided

1-10-06 - A special election resulted in a new councilman for Madill's Ward 3 spot. It also ended a controversial chapter in city politics. Curt Clement edged out C.D. Hale by 32 votes after a recall petition triggered the election.

Several hundred residents were upset last year when Lloyd Eppler was elected without opposition. Eppler filed just before the filing deadline, and within hours, the incumbent candidate stepped out of the race, allowing Eppler to run unopposed.

Eppler fought the recall petition, but chose not to run in the special election.

Clement received 226 votes to Hale's 194 votes.
