1-22-06 – Three weeks since fires devastated parts of Montague County, hundreds gathered to support a Saint Jo veterinarian critically injured while trying to rescue animals during out-of-control brush fires.
Hundreds attended a two-day fundraiser for Sharon Gaston at the Circle A arena in Muenster.
Gaston was hurt while rescuing horses in Montague County on January 1st. One of the horses trampled Gaston, fracturing her skull. Gaston has been in a coma for 22 days. Friends say she has been upgraded to stable condition, but they say her medical bills are piling up.
Organizers hope a rodeo and auction Saturday and Sunday will raise enough money to get Gaston back on her feet.
Organizers say they raised nearly $11,000 on Saturday night alone.
