Home Break-In Leads to Manhunt

1-29-06 – Officers from several departments joined Bryan County deputies and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers in a manhunt that began after a homeowner called police to report a break-in.

The homeowner and her adult daughter returned home Sunday around 3:30 in the afternoon and found that their back door was forced open. The women searched the home and found their estranged teenage son hiding under a bed.

Deputies say the man hit his sister and then ran from the home and into a wooded area near Highway 78 and Highway 70E. Authorities set up a perimeter around the home – they say they took the case seriously because they believed the man was armed with a hunting rifle that was stolen from the same home Saturday night.

An OHP plane was also sent into the air. Around 4:15 p.m., the suspect walked out of a wooded area and surrendered to authorities. He is identified as 19-year-old Brett Allan Densmore, Jr.

Densmore was taken to the Bryan County Jail. He faces burglary and assault and battery charges.
