2-4-06 – Local volunteer firefighters took part in a training program held at the Pottsboro High School – Saturday. The program was developed to train firefighters to avoid a tragedy similar to one that killed three North Texas firefighters in 1999. They were fighting a blaze inside a Lake Worth Church when the roof collapsed.
One of their colleagues spoke to an audience of more than 80 firefighters during the Grayson County Association of Fire Chiefs Conference.
Firefighters learned more about ways to avoid mistakes in the field and how to better handle emergencies even with limited resources.
Saturday’s training cost each firefighter $20. The program will repeated on Sunday from 8am to 5pm at Pottsboro High School.
