2-6-06- Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry says the state has “unstoppable momentum” and is poised for greatness. Henry’s comments came during his State of the State speech given to a joint session of the state House and Senate Monday afternoon.
The governor says Oklahoma is building a first-class education system, has created more than 50,000 well paying jobs and raised personal income by $8 billion. Henry wants more money devoted to education and health care to include funding for better teacher pay, college scholarships, and to allow less expensive prescription drugs be bought from Canada and other industrialized countries.
He’s also proposing $100 million to repair roads and bridges and more money for high-tech research, the teacher retirement systems and to create a special fund to help recruit jobs to the state.
