Voting Machines Costing Less

2-6-06- In a report on First News last week we told you that cities in Grayson County will have to lease electronic voting machines for upcoming elections.

Now, instead of having to pay the county $350 a day to rent the new required equipment, local cities and school districts will borrow it for free. The issue came up after concerns over leasing prices. Because the county received the equipment though a grant, commissioners have decided to drop the rental fee for this year.

Cities will be responsible for covering the costs of software, training, and damage to any of the machines used in the elections.
