SHERMAN, Tex. -- Three accidents slowed down traffic on U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman on Thursday, with one traffic accident actually causing another.

Police say just before 2 p.m. a pickup truck may have run a red light at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and U.S. Highway 82, and somehow collided with another pickup. While officers were responding to that wreck, there was another crash involving four vehicles. One man was taken to Wilson N. Jones Hospital with minor injuries.

Another accident occurred Thursday at U.S. 75 near Taylor Street.

Police say two women were riding in a four-door Dodge when witnesses say a silver Honda swerved into another lane. The Dodge tried to swerve away, but instead went into a large ditch nearby.

The driver, 57-year-old Elda Spitznagel, of Bells, was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The passenger, 40-year-old Kimberly Voyles, of Bells, was trapped, and firefighters used a rope as a life line to use with the steep embankment. Voyles was flown to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

Both women have serious but non life-threatening injuries.

It was my mom that was run off the road right there at Taylor street. Her car hit the embankment. The person that swerved into her lane never stopped. My mom and her friend are very badly hurt and are being treated at Baylor hospital. I just thank Jesus that they are both alive and can heal from their wounds, and I pray that the Lord put conviction in the person responsible's heart and that they come forward and show respect and apologize and take responsibility for their stupid lack of attention! Please if anyone knows anything that might help the case, please contact me through email at super_finders@yahoo.com. Thank you!

MMM...Holiday weekend... I wonder how many people in these three wrecks were from out of town. I also think that we will see a lot more of this as the metroplex moves north.

either that or just plain ole driving like an idiot and not caring about others on the road... too many people out there drive like they are the only ones on the highways and could care less about others on the road, too many needless deaths and serious accidents from careless people.
